What it checks:

Images — reads C2PA signed provenance metadata embedded at generation time. If an image was created with Claude, DALL·E, Adobe Firefly, or any other C2PA-compliant generator, the tool extracts the generator name, creation timestamp, and trust status. The check is cryptographic: it reads the actual signed manifest, not a filename or file type.

Text — scans for hidden Unicode characters embedded in the content: zero-width spaces, invisible joiners, soft hyphens, and other non-printing characters used to fingerprint or mark generated text. If they’re there, we surface exactly which characters and where.

What it does not check:

Claude’s statistical text watermark works at the token-generation level and requires Anthropic’s private key to verify. That’s true of every tool, not just this one. When a text scan comes back clean, it means no hidden characters were found — not that the content is human-made. Metadata can also be stripped from images before sharing. We show you what’s actually present, and we tell you plainly what we can’t see.
