This recommendation jumped out at me, “Content quality: Remember that citations in AI Mode are ultimately driven by content authority and relevance, not markup tricks.”
As a content marketer, it appears that Google’s AI Mode is doing a better job of rewarding content quality than Google Search. For a long time, Google (since Panda?) said they want to return better search results to their customers and the way to rank is with high-quality, original content. But, you could still pay Google to get your content at the top of the page which has increasingly left less real estate for organic search results. And, good SEOs always did a better job of getting content surfaced than content marketers’ good habits/intentions.
Interesting research, Dan. Thanks for sharing.
